There is still a pulse

Wow, its been over 2 months since I "blogged". Hope everyone had a pleasant Holiday season. We really enjoyed seeing friends and family in Pittsburgh and Salt Lake. Thanks for the cards, pics, gifts, and so on. Lets make this year a good year (despite it being an election year).

Which leads me to a special perspective I've taken about our children. I work with a lot of young weathy (or soon to be well-to-do) professionals. Many pridefully drive their BMW's, eat at restaurants where prices aren't listed, and have expensive hobbies. Is there anything wrong with that? No, not really. They know I have three precious girls. And they love seeing them interact and play. However, they themselves have decided that they don't want kids. Why? A couple of reasons. Money being #1. Yet, to appear more altruistic in their reasons, they state that they could not possibly have a child with all the war and evil that exists in this world. It would be cruel to do that to a child.

Yes, there is a lot of evil in this world (read the news) and there is a lot of war (thanks to Bush). And life will not be rosy, but my perspective is that our children are our only hope to combat what is wrong out there. If we teach them compassion, self-lessness, and a good work ethic, our bleak outlook on the future could be brighter. We can make a choice now. Be defeatists or make a difference. I believe our children give us hope and inspiration as we slowly corrupt ourselves. I'm not saying go out and have a gaggle of kids, but if you don't want to have kids just be honest and admit you'd rather pay for a Lexus than someone's college tuition. Enough philosophy today.

When tac and I tried looking up Dr. Burley and the Buttercups, this blog post was the first result on google, you are totally going to be famous.
Also, its good to be reading your blog again and if you can believe it we loved what you have to say about children. And wrong post; but yeah, you just can't get a poodle (sorry Amber):)cool fishies though and radical names.
We love our big dopey labrador.
