Inspired by Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern, I decided that I needed to give the durian a try as well. So one of the nurses I work with, Debbie M., brought in some for me to try. She is from the Philippines and "likes" durian.
I gave it a try, took a bite, didn't barf. It tasted like rotten sweet onion plus licking whatever is at the bottom of my garbage can. The aftertaste is murder. I'm someone who'll try most things at least once. That is my one and last time with durian.
