To My Ambi '08

The art of tape-mixes has dwindled mightily the last 10-15 years. In high school we made and gave mix tapes all the time. This then evolved into making mix CD's. Now, I have no idea what kids do. Send each other their iMixes and make each other pay for it?

Anyway, for our anniversary, I made Ambi a mix-CD. I did one last year too. So, here is what it looks like:

Cemeteries of London by Coldplay: Nothing romanitc about this song, but Amber loves Coldplay.

Northwestern Girls by Say Hi: Amber is from the NW, so there you have it. Eric Elbogen is the new Morissey with out me wanting to cut myself.

Pictures of You by the Cure: There aren't many that disagree that this is one of the greatest love songs ever written.

Perfect Situation by Weezer: Amber and I like to sing along to this in the car.

Space and Time by the Verve: Love the Verve. I wish I had a fraction of the talent that Richard Ashcroft has.

"Heroes" by David Bowie: Amber like David Bowie, but this is one of my top 5 favorite songs in the universe.

Hamburg Song by Keane: Amber is also a big fan of Keane. I'm a big fan of Hamburg.

Starlight by Muse: Starlight is one of Amber's all time favorite songs. I can't blame her. It never gets old.

Blue In the Face by Alkaline Trio: Amber is into those "Twilight" books about vampires. This is a vampire love song by a real cool punk band.

Night After Night by the Sounds: This is the song that you'd expect to be the last slow dance at a high school dance, but it won't be because the Sounds are too cool for school.

156 by Mew: We both love Mew who are from Denmark. Yes, all their songs are in english. I think this song is about stalking, but Mew continues to be vague about it (TacNJen, do you know what he's talking about?).

So there you go. Go make a mix-CD/tape/whatever, carry on the tradition.

Sweet CD! I'm going straight to Project Playlist to listen to the 5 songs I've never heard before because I love and trust you and Amber's taste in music so much! Have fun on your trip. I so wish we were going with you. Post lots of pictures so I can live vicariously for a few minutes, okay?

Nice cd Larry. I am constantly making mixed cd's for people, I can't help it, I keep thinking that if they heard good music they would really love it. Who knows though. And I hardly know what any of the Mew songs are about, I just feel lucky if I understand the lyrics. Be sure to post pictures from the trip!
