Taqueria Mercado and Panaderia in Cincinnati

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in the WORLD! This is no chips and salsa Chi-Chi's or Don Pablo's. This restaurant is in a little strip mall just north of Cincinnati. If you weren't looking for it, you'd pass by it. You know its good when you walk in and you're the only gringo there. Everything is very fresh and inexpensive. They own their own Mexican bakery next door, which provides all their breads and tortillas. Our favorites include their seasoned pork enchiladas, tortas, and shrimp quesadillas. The enchiladas have to be the best in the world. Amber also likes their refried beans, homemade, never from a can. Afterward, if you aren't stuffed from the burrito you ate that is nearly the size of Sydney's head, wander to the bakery where they have some awesome Mexican pastries. The girls beg for them every time we visit. So if in Cincy looking for some absolute authentic Mexican that puts those chain restaurants to shame, go to Taqueria Mercado and Panaderia in Cincinnati, you won't be disappointed. However, if you enjoy the mediocrity of chain locales like Applebee's, TGI Fridays, Olive Garden, et al., you're in for a culture shock.
